{"product_id":"astm-f2291-16-standard-practice-for-design-of-amusement-rides-and-devices-new113","title":"ASTM F2291-16  Standard Practice for Design of Amusement Rides and Devices","description":"\u003cdiv class=\"SectionLevel2\"\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cspan class=\"Head3 cdone\"\u003e1.1\u003c\/span\u003e This practice establishes criteria for the design of amusement rides, devices and major modifications to amusement rides and devices manufactured after the effective date of publication except as noted in \u003cspan class=\"Body-link1 cdone\"\u003e1.2\u003c\/span\u003e.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003c\/div\u003e\n\u003cdiv class=\"SectionLevel2\"\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cspan class=\"Head3 cdone\"\u003e1.2\u003c\/span\u003e This practice shall not apply to:\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cdiv class=\"SectionLevel3\"\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cspan class=\"Head4 cdone\"\u003e1.2.1\u003c\/span\u003e Patron directed amusement rides or devices (for example, go karts, bumper cars, bumper boats),\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003c\/div\u003e\n\u003cdiv class=\"SectionLevel3\"\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cspan class=\"Head4 cdone\"\u003e1.2.2\u003c\/span\u003e Artificial climbing walls,\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003c\/div\u003e\n\u003cdiv class=\"SectionLevel3\"\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cspan class=\"Head4 cdone\"\u003e1.2.3\u003c\/span\u003e Air-supported structures,\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003c\/div\u003e\n\u003cdiv class=\"SectionLevel3\"\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cspan class=\"Head4 cdone\"\u003e1.2.4\u003c\/span\u003e dry slides,\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003c\/div\u003e\n\u003cdiv class=\"SectionLevel3\"\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cspan class=\"Head4 cdone\"\u003e1.2.5\u003c\/span\u003e coin operated rides,\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003c\/div\u003e\n\u003cdiv class=\"SectionLevel3\"\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cspan class=\"Head4 cdone\"\u003e1.2.6\u003c\/span\u003e Amusement rides or devices that involve the purposeful immersion of the patron's body partially or totally in the water and involves more than incidental patron water contact (for example, pools, water slides, lazy rivers, interactive aquatic play devices),\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003c\/div\u003e\n\u003cdiv class=\"SectionLevel3\"\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cspan class=\"Head4 cdone\"\u003e1.2.7\u003c\/span\u003e Amusement rides and devices whose design criteria are specifically addressed in another \u003cspan class=\"highlight\"\u003eASTM\u003c\/span\u003e standard,\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003c\/div\u003e\n\u003cdiv class=\"SectionLevel3\"\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cspan class=\"Head4 cdone\"\u003e1.2.8\u003c\/span\u003e Portions of an amusement ride or device unaffected by a major modification,\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003c\/div\u003e\n\u003cdiv class=\"SectionLevel3\"\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cspan class=\"Head4 cdone\"\u003e1.2.9\u003c\/span\u003e Upgrades to electrical wiring, electrical motors and electrical components of amusement rides and devices provided the original design and safety criteria are maintained or enhanced, and\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003c\/div\u003e\n\u003cdiv class=\"SectionLevel3\"\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cspan class=\"Head4 cdone\"\u003e1.2.10\u003c\/span\u003e Pre-existing designs manufactured after the effective date of publication of this practice if the design is service proven or previously compliant and the manufacturer provides:\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cdiv class=\"SectionLevel4\"\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cspan class=\"Head5 cdone\"\u003e1.2.10.1\u003c\/span\u003e A historical summary of the amusement ride, device or major modification, and\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003c\/div\u003e\n\u003cdiv class=\"SectionLevel4\"\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cspan class=\"Head5 cdone\"\u003e1.2.10.2\u003c\/span\u003e A statement that the design is service proven or previously compliant as specified by Section \u003cspan class=\"Body-link1 cdone\"\u003e3\u003c\/span\u003e.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003c\/div\u003e\n\u003cdiv class=\"SectionLevel4\"\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cspan class=\"Head5 cdone\"\u003e1.2.10.3\u003c\/span\u003e Amusement rides and devices, and major modifications to amusement rides and devices may qualify as “previously compliant” for five years following the date of publication of this practice. Thereafter, amusement rides and devices, and major modifications to amusement rides and devices must qualify as “service proven” or meet the requirements of this practice.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003c\/div\u003e\n\u003c\/div\u003e\n\u003c\/div\u003e\n\u003cdiv class=\"SectionLevel2\"\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cspan class=\"Head3 cdone\"\u003e1.3\u003c\/span\u003e This practice includes an annex (mandatory), which provides additional information (for example, rationale, background, interpretations, drawings, commentary, and so forth) to improve the user's understanding and application of the criteria presented in this practice. The annex information shall be interpreted as mandatory design criteria.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003c\/div\u003e\n\u003cdiv class=\"SectionLevel2\"\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cspan class=\"Head3 cdone\"\u003e1.4\u003c\/span\u003e This practice includes an appendix (non-mandatory), which provides additional information (for example, rationale, background, interpretations, drawings, commentary, and so forth.) to improve the user's understanding and application of the criteria presented in this practice.
